Exclusive: British Desert Rockers InTechnicolor Debut Their Latest Single “Tokyo Dream”

Εικόνα
There’s an old saying that it’s better to have loved and lost than never loved at all. It’s a feeling that many of us can relate to, and it’s definitely the feeling that’s present in British desert rock band InTechnicolor’s latest single, “Tokyo Dream.” “Tokyo Dream is a song about feeling like you’re losing someone. In my own interpretation, it’s a romantic love but it could be any kind of love disappearing. It’s about that feeling of emptiness in the pit of your stomach you get when you know that person is not going to be there anymore, and the damage done when experiencing that loss. The overwhelming loss can make you feel resentful. It can make you feel damaged and want to lash out at…anybody.” Based out of Brighton, the desert rock four-piece uses fuzzy guitars and driving rhythms to land itself firmly between the sonic lines of Kyuss and Baroness, creating a unique sound that sets itself apart from the likes of other European desert rock outfits like Truckfighters or Nightst

Bloodbath Get All Up in Your Face with Their New Video for “Putrefying Corpse”

Εικόνα
Bloodbath’s latest album Survival of the Sickest has been out for a week now and it’s easy to say that it’s one hell of a murderous drop from the Swedish death metal band. In a bid to make you remember just how absolutely crushing and dominant their latest effort is, Bloodbath released a new music video for “Putrefying Corpse,” which you can check out below. If you’ve ever wanted to watch Bloodbath play real up close but occasionally have rotting carcasses thrust into your view, then this music video is definitely right up your alley. Featuring guest vocals from Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway, this track seeks to have your face in with aggressively heavy guitar work and unrelenting, pounding rhythms. And while Bloodbath frontman and recent The MetalSucks Podcast guest Nick Holmes said he sees lyrics as just another instrument in the mix, his vocals are just as spot on here as they are in the rest of the album. Speaking of Holmes, he said in his own way that the song was about the

Watain’s Erik Danielsson: Black Metal “Has to Be a Bit Problematic”

Εικόνα
Swedish black metal stalwarts Watain are no strangers to controversy surrounding their music , something that bandleader Erik Danielsson is very aware of in a new interview with Metal Hammer . Reflecting on the rise of social movements like #MeToo and Black Lives Matter, Danielsson said that black metal was met with scrutiny and upheld the outsider art ethos of the genre. “As artists dealing with what is commonly thought of as extreme and radical ideas such as murder, black magic, arson, Satanism, violence, drugs, religious fanatism and so forth, you could really feel a change in the way you were being judged. It was interesting to see normal people trying to come up with [a] justification as to why it was still acceptable for them to like black metal.”  Metal Hammer also brings up Watain’s connections to Swedish melodic death metal progenitors Dissection. Bandleader Jon Nödtveidt was put in prison following his role in the murder of Josef ben Meddour, a gay man, in 1997. Fol

New Music and a Tour Are Likely “Imminent” for Queens of the Stone Age

Εικόνα
It’s been a minute since Queens of the Stone Age have been in the spotlight. Their 2017 album Villains was well received and they’ve honestly been riding a wave of success since their 2013 release …Like Clockwork . So it only makes sense that when they’d announced plans earlier today to reissue three classic QOTSA albums, those two would be on the list along with their self-titled album. As of this post, the aqua …Like Clockwork variant is completely sold out, but there are still copies available of the clear leaf green version of Villains and the orange variant of the self-titled album. But that’s not all that the band’s got going for it. If you head to the band’s homepage, you’ll see a stylized TV sitting in the desert with a four button menu on the right. If you click the red “Buy” button, you’ll see links for the reissues, but at the bottom there’s a little news scrawl that reads: “BREAKING: QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE ALBUM LAUNCH RUMOURED TO BE ‘IMMINENT.'” If that’s not

Testament is Looking to Release New Music Next Year

Εικόνα
With their latest tour still going strong and Dave Lombardo now officially behind the kit, Testament are a band that’s hitting on all cylinders. With the new year fast approaching, it’s sounding like some new music is becoming an inevitability. Testament frontman Chuck Billy was recently on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk” (transcribed by Blabbermouth ) when the topic of Lombardo’s return to the band after his short stint back in 1999 came up and how it’s affected the band’s morale when he let slip that new music is in the cards. “We had a great time [playing with Dave Lombardo]. I think he really enjoys playing in the band, enjoys the music. And we’re now talking about, ‘Let’s talk about maybe making a new record.’ So hopefully that’s in the future.” When Trunk pushed to learn more about the potential for new music, Billy said the band was still in its early phases of writing. “Well, Eric [Peterson, Testament guitarist] has a bunch of music. He doesn’t really lik

Ghost Continue to Cash In on TikTok Fame with Official Live “Mary on a Cross” Video

Εικόνα
Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but Ghost ‘s song “Mary on a Cross” has been pretty fucking popular lately. After finding success and viral attention thanks to TikTok users playing the song as a backing track to their TikToks (TikTok videos? Whatever), the 2019 Ghost track has seen its streaming numbers soar. It’s gotten to be so much that the song just recently hit Billboard’s Hot 100 list for the first time since its release, is currently number 44 out of the Top U.S. songs according to Spotify , and the band re-released a slowed down version , since that’s what the kids have been doing on social media. Well, still looking to push the song to new heights, the Swedish band that’s ever-popular among our readers has released an official live video of the song from their recent stop in Tampa, Florida. Tomorrow’s show in Green Bay, Wisconsin marks the final stop for Ghost’s Imperatour, which included Mastodon and Spiritbox on the bill. You can check out the clip below to see f

David Ellefson’s Band Dieth Just Signed with Napalm Records

Εικόνα
It’s time to reset the old “Days Since We Posted About Dave Ellefson ” counter. His new death/thrash metal band Dieth is back in the news after landing a multi-record deal with Napalm Records . Featuring former Entombed A.D. guitarist Guilherme Miranda, who will also be handling vocals for Dieth, and former Decapitated drummer Michał Łysejko, the band is looking to get the ball rolling with a debut album expected next year. In a press release about the signing, the band said they were excited for this new chapter in each member’s respective careers, having only been introduced to one another earlier this year. “We are stoked to announce that we’ve signed a multi-album international record deal with Napalm Records, who will release our debut album in 2023. Their approach to music and devotion to metal made Napalm the perfect, most suitable place for us and our music. Last but not least, we would like to thank each one of you that are giving us this massive support. More info and

A Religious Group Says Reebok’s New Footware Has ‘Baphomet Feet’ and We Suddenly Need New Shoes

Εικόνα
Religious people just love finding Jesus, Mary, even Satan himself in inanimate objects, don’t they? In the latest edition of “boy, that’s a stretch,” a religious group on Facebook is calling for its users to not “be caught up in their rituals” in response to the release of the Reebok x Maison Margiela Tabi Decortique fashion shoe. The reasoning behind their little tiff was outlined in the groups Facebook page, Prophecy News , which suggested the fact that the front of the shoe is divided into two halves, making the foot look like a hoof, rather than a typical shoe. Since hooves are naturally only ever found on goats or Satan. “Reebok’s new sneakers have the Baphomet goat feet. The rulers of this world show more and more openly and clearly who they worship. Make sure to open your eyes, and don’t be caught up in their rituals.” The split design of the shoe is a trademark of designer John Galliano, who’s previous work with French luxury fashion house Maison Margiela featured similar

Hallowed Be Thy Game: Cult of the Lamb Makes Running a Satanic Cult Fun and Cute

Εικόνα
(Editor’s note: Let’s face it — most metalheads are a buncha nerds. To that end, Hallowed Be Thy Game is a new bi-weekly feature here on MetalSucks where we’ll highlight some of the metal-as-fuck board/video/tabletop role playing games we’re playing or have played in the past.) The lamb comes up a lot in religious imagery as an embodiment of innocence and purity. Christians literally refer to Jesus Christ as “the lamb” for both his gentle and sacrificial nature. Yet in Cult of the Lamb , a single-player rogue-like game developed by Massive Monster and published by Devolver Digital , our lamb is the exact opposite — he’s vengeance and the devil personified. In Cult of the Lamb , you play the world’s last remaining lamb. You see, prior to the start of the game, cults worshiping four false prophets murdered your kind to stop a prophecy that warned of a lamb that would slay the prophets before unchaining a disgraced deity known as “The One Who Waits.” After getting executed in the gam

Clean Vocals, Piano, and Dark Imagery Take Center Stage in Behemoth’s “Versvs Christvs” Video

Εικόνα
To say Behemoth ‘s kind of on top of their game right now would be a sort of understatement. After having just released an absolute monster of an album in Opvs Contra Natvram , the band livestreamed a badass performance that served as a huge “fuck you” to the Polish authorities , and they’re getting ready to tour South America this November with Arch Enemy. Earlier today, the band took promoting their latest album to the next level, as they released a music video for the endlessly riveting album closer “Versvs Christvs.” Featuring pianos throughout huge portions of the song that almost sounds Rammstein -esque (think the piano version of “Mein Hertz brennt”) during the quiet parts in some ways, the video for “Versvs Christvs” is visually striking, thanks to the work of director Agata Alexander. Frontman Adam “Nergal” Darski said the album’s critical success and the release of such an artistic music video was an extremely pleasurable experience for himself and the rest of the band.

10 People You Can’t Stand at Metal Shows

Εικόνα
With the existential dangers of COVID-19 winding down a bit from 2020-21, there’s been a sharp uptick in the number of tours, festivals and concerts for us all to enjoy. It seems that folks are making up for lost time and seeing as many shows as they can, which is great for artists who rely on shows to make their living. With this sudden return to in-person concerts also comes the return of annoying behaviors that the metal community can’t seem to get a hold on. Here are ten types of people who seem to do their best to annoy the shit out of us at shows. The Guy Crowd Killing in the Pit Here’s the thing about crowd killing: it was never cool or respected – even in the hardcore scene “back in the day.” Targeting people with kicks and punches in the pit doesn’t make you tough and it doesn’t give you street cred. Rather, it sends a signal to everyone that you likely got rejected from every fraternity you tried to rush in college and that you probably don’t take rejection on Tinder part
